In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Renting a vehicle requires:

A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle class is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, you will need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meeting any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Godalming office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to inspect the vehicle thoroughly and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. Upon returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, taking into account standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Returns made later than the agreed time may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to be late. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or similar charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms

Additional insurance options may be available to help limit your financial exposure. Review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice you provide. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful purpose is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, and engaging in activities that may pose a risk. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, use must comply with passenger and weight limits and remain within agreed geographical boundaries unless prior consent has been obtained.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Godalming will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
